About
Zaccharie Risacher, born 8 April 2005 in Málaga, Spain, is a French professional basketball player for the Dallas Mavericks, having been selected first overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2024 NBA draft.
He was born while his father, Stéphane Risacher, played professionally for Baloncesto Málaga, and the family later returned to Lyon, France, where Zaccharie began playing club basketball at age three and a half with youth club Tassin, part of Élan Chalon, in the city’s suburbs.
Risacher joined the youth program of ASVEL Basket in August 2020, developing primarily through the club’s LNB Espoirs team, France’s under-21 league. He made his senior debut with ASVEL in 2021 in an LNB Élite match against Metropolitans 92, and followed that with his EuroLeague debut on 18 January 2022 in a 75–100 loss to Monaco.
During his time in LNB Espoirs competition, he averaged 12.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, performances that helped establish him as a top international prospect. His development through one of France’s premier basketball academies set the stage for his eventual rise to becoming a first overall NBA draft selection.
