Taylor Alison Swift, born December 13, 1989, is an American singer-songwriter widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in popular culture, known for her autobiographical songwriting and repeated artistic reinventions across her career.

She holds the distinctions of being the highest-grossing live music artist, the wealthiest female musician, and one of the best-selling music artists of all time, a body of commercial and cultural achievement built over roughly two decades in the industry.

Swift signed with Big Machine Records in 2005 and debuted as a country artist with Taylor Swift (2006) and Fearless (2008), with singles like “Teardrops on My Guitar,” “Love Story,” and “You Belong with Me” crossing over successfully onto pop radio.

She incorporated rock elements on Speak Now (2010) and blended pop and rock on Red (2012), before fully recalibrating her sound from country to synth-pop with 1989 (2014); the media scrutiny that followed her fame later shaped the trap-influenced Reputation (2017).

Throughout the 2010s, she notched numerous Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles, including “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space,” “Bad Blood,” and “Look What You Made Me Do.” In 2018 she moved to Republic Records, releasing the eclectic pop album Lover in 2019 and beginning a project to re-record four of her first six albums to regain ownership of her music.
