Sia Kate Isobelle Furler, born 18 December 1975, is an Australian singer and songwriter who was born and raised in Adelaide. She began her career in the mid-1990s as a singer in the acid jazz band Crisp, and after the group disbanded in 1997, she released her debut solo album, OnlySee, in Australia.

She then moved to London, where she contributed vocals for the English duo Zero 7, before releasing her second and third studio albums, Healing Is Difficult (2001) and Colour the Small One (2004).

Sia relocated to New York City in 2005 and toured extensively across the US. Her fourth and fifth albums, Some People Have Real Problems (2008) and We Are Born (2010), both earned gold certification from the Australian Recording Industry Association and brought her significantly wider recognition than her earlier work.

Uncomfortable with her rising fame, she stepped back from performing to focus on songwriting for other artists, penning hit collaborations including “Titanium” with David Guetta, “Diamonds” for Rihanna, “Wild Ones” with Flo Rida, and “Pretty Hurts” for Beyoncé. Her sixth studio album, 1000 Forms of Fear, marked a major return to her own spotlight, debuting atop the US Billboard 200 and producing the top-ten hit single “Chandelier.”
