Tay Tian, born Claire Eileen Qi Hope on July 29, 2007 and known professionally as Lil Tay, is an American-Canadian internet personality and musician who first rose to prominence in early 2018 at age ten, while publicly claiming to be nine. She became widely known for content depicting her boasting about wealth, styling herself as “the youngest flexer of the century,” alongside videos of her rapping, which collectively drew millions of views across YouTube and Instagram.

Her social media presence went dark after roughly three months when her father petitioned the Superior Court of Canada for full custody and control over her career as an influencer; custody was ultimately awarded to her mother. In 2023, Tay became the subject of extensive media coverage after a false announcement of her death was posted from her Instagram account. Later that year, she returned to music with the release of a single, “Sucker 4 Green.”

Born in 2007 to Angela Tian, a former real estate agent, and Christopher J. Hope, a lawyer, Tay originally lived in Atlanta before her family relocated to Vancouver, Canada, at a young age. Her parents, who never married, shared custody of her during her childhood, a dynamic that would later factor into the legal disputes over her career as a public figure.
