Jenna Marie Ortega, born September 27, 2002, is an American actress widely known for her work in horror, earning her the nickname “Gen Z’s scream queen” from media publications. She was featured on The Hollywood Reporter’s Power 100 list in 2023 and Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list in 2024.

Ortega began acting professionally at age nine, first gaining recognition as a younger version of Jane on The CW’s Jane the Virgin. She then took on a leading role as Harley Diaz on the Disney Channel series Stuck in the Middle, winning an Imagen Award for her performance. She transitioned into more mature material, playing Ellie Alves in the Netflix thriller series You (2019) and co-starring in the horror-comedy film The Babysitter: Killer Queen (2020). She earned critical praise for portraying a traumatized high school student in the drama film The Fallout (2021).

Ortega solidified her status as a rising horror star by co-starring in the successful slasher films Scream (2022), X (2022), and Scream VI (2023). She reached international prominence and widespread critical acclaim for her portrayal of Wednesday Addams in the Netflix series Wednesday, which premiered in 2022 and continues to air, becoming the role most closely associated with her career to date.
