About

Manja Rogan, born 22 October 1995, is a Slovenian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Première Ligue club FC Nantes and the Slovenia women’s national team, having started her senior career with NK Mura in 2009.

In 2016 she became the first player to win Slovenia’s best female footballer award, and she was later named to the Best 11 in 2015–16, 2018–19, and 2020–21. In 2024 she added the award for best midfielder in the Greek Women’s Super League. A left-footed player known for her passing, shooting, and game-reading ability, she specializes in set-pieces and typically takes her team’s penalties, free kicks, and corners.

Rogan’s football journey began at age four with boys’ team NK Mura, but Intermunicipal Football Association Murska Sobota rules barred girls from playing with boys past age 12. At age 8 she chose to move to a girls’ team, joining WFC Odranci in 2003 after the club’s founding in 1999.

She played every youth level from under-8 through under-17, serving as captain of the youth team throughout and earning annual individual honors along the way, laying the foundation for the standout senior career that followed.
