Kanye West

Ye, born Kanye Omari West on June 8, 1977, is an American rapper, songwriter, and record producer widely regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all time and among the most prominent figures in hip-hop.

Born in Atlanta and raised in Chicago, he rose as a producer for Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records, known for his “chipmunk soul” style, before launching a solo career with the acclaimed The College Dropout (2004).

Late Registration (2005) became his first of eleven US Billboard 200 number-one albums, and his frequent stylistic shifts helped open hip-hop beyond gangsta rap conventions.

He’s scored five Hot 100 number-one singles, including “Gold Digger” and “Stronger,” while remaining known for his polarizing public persona and commentary.
