Ariana Grande-Butera, born June 26, 1993, is an American singer, songwriter, and actress recognized as one of the most influential figures in contemporary popular music, known especially for her four-octave vocal range that extends into the whistle register. Publications including Rolling Stone and Billboard have named her among the greatest artists in history, and Time included her on its list of the world’s 100 most influential people in both 2016 and 2019.

Grande began her career as a teenager in the Broadway musical 13 (2008) before rising to prominence playing Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon’s Victorious from 2010 to 2013 and its spin-off Sam & Cat from 2013 to 2014. After signing with Republic Records, she released her debut studio album, Yours Truly (2013), a retro-inspired pop and R&B record that debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. She incorporated electronic influences on her following albums, My Everything (2014) and Dangerous Woman (2016), both of which achieved major international success and produced hit singles including “Problem,” “Break Free,” “Bang Bang,” “One Last Time,” “Into You,” and “Side to Side.”

Personal struggles later shaped her albums Sweetener (2018) and Thank U, Next (2019), both of which marked a more introspective, emotionally candid chapter in her artistic evolution and public persona.
